Virtus.pro Win IEM XV – New York Online: CIS

Virtus.pro have become the champions of the final RMR-event for the CIS region of this year, Intel Extreme Masters XV – New York: CIS. In the tournament’s finals they outplayed Nemiga Gaming with the 3-0 score.

Virtus.pro started the event by placing first in Group A with the 5-0 score, advancing directly to the semifinals. There they managed to outplay Na`Vi (2-0). In the grand finals they emerged victorious at Mirage (16:12), Dust II (16:5) and Inferno (16:13). Currently the team is on a 18-series’ win streak.

Meanwhile, the 3rd place match between Natus Vincere and Team Spirit was not played as NAVI decided to forfeit due to the illness of Ilya "Perfecto" Zalutskiy, who earlier had been tested positive for COVID-19.

Initially IEM XV New York was supposed to be the final RMR event before the major ESL One Rio. However, the event was indefinitely postponed and VALVE’s plans for the circuit remain unclear. Nonetheless, as of now the following teams have secured their places at the major:

• Virtus.pro – 5116 points – Contender
• Gambit Esports – 3735 points – Contender
