G2 Esports Triumphs at LEC 2019 Spring
G2 Esports emerged victorious at LEC Spring 2019, the first major event of the rebranded European League of Legends league. The team qualified to the upcoming global LAN-event Mid-Season Invitational 2019.
The spring split of League of Legends European Championship was held over January 18th – April 14th and featured 10 teams competing for a € 200,000 prize pool. During the group stage the teams played in a single group with double round robin format and best-of-one series. The playoffs stage featured top six teams competing in a double-elimination bracket with best-of-five series.
G2 Esports placed first in the group stage with the 13-5 series score, securing their spot in the winners’ finals. In the playoffs they defeated Origen twice with the same score of 3-0, winning € 80,000 in prize money and receiving a ticket to MSI 2019.
