ESL One Rio 2020 Rescheduled to November and Merged with the Fall Major

ESL have rescheduled the CS:GO major event ESL One Rio 2020 to November 19th-22nd due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event, which was initially set to be played in May, will still be held at the same venue – Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, with the tickets bought for May remaining valid for November.

The event will be merged with the November major, while it’s prize pool will be increased to $2,000,000, the highest amount in the history of competitive Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The tournament will be a Championship level event in ESL Pro Tour and a part of Intel Grand Slam. It remains unknown how the event’s participants will be determined. ESL and Valve are also working on providing content for the May Major / Minor time frame.

Earlier ESL moved ESL Pro League Season 11 to online and reintroduced regional divisions, as well as indefinitely postponed Dota 2 major event ESL One Los Angeles 2020.
