Astralis Defeat Team Liquid in the Grand finals of ECS Season 8
Esports Championship Series Season 8 Finals has concluded with Astralis defeating Team Liquid in the grand finals. The winners have claimed $225,000 in prize money, while the runner-ups received $100,000.
Both Astralis and Team Liquid qualified for playoffs from first places in their groups: Team Liquid outplayed Ninjas in Pyjamas (16:4) and Evil Geniuses (2:0) in Group A, while Astralis defeated Sharks (19:15) and Fnatic (2:0) in Group B. Both semifinals concluded with the 2-1 score – Astralis managed to beat Evil Geniuses, while Team Liquid took out Fnatic. In the grand finals Team Liquid surprised everyone by choosing Vertigo, where they managed to emerge victorious in overplay (19:15). However, the following two maps concluded in favour of Astralis – Nuke (16:11) and Dust II (16:8).
ECS Season 8 – Finals was held from November 28th to December 1st at Esports Stadium in Arlington, United States. The event featured 8 teams competing for a $500,000 prize pool.
